Indore Girl Breaks Jump Rope Record With 2800 Skips in 30 Minutes Using Homemade Rope

In a quiet street of Indores Snehlataganj area, a 14-year-old girl named Asmita Rathore has done something that stunned both her neighbors and the local sports council — she completed 2,800 skips in just 30 minutes using a homemade jump rope crafted from discarded cycle cables.

What started as a lockdown hobby quickly turned into a passion. With schools shut and no sports equipment at hand, Asmita built her own rope, watched online tutorials, and began practicing every morning on her terrace.

At first, she could only manage 200 skips. But with consistency and support from her elder brother, who timed her and recorded her practice sessions, Asmita pushed herself to break her personal best each week.

Her efforts caught attention when she participated in a local fitness challenge organized by a coaching academy. There, she shattered previous records and became the youngest participant to cross 2,500 skips — a feat that earned her a spot in the district sports talent pool.

Her record is now being verified for inclusion in the India Book of Records.

What makes this story remarkable is not just the number of skips, but the lack of resources. No gym, no fancy shoes, and no coach — just a basic rope and raw determination.

Asmita says, “Jump rope helped me stay focused and healthy when everything else felt uncertain.” She now mentors three younger girls in her colony and leads group skipping sessions every weekend in the local park.

Physical education trainers in Indore are now promoting skipping as an ideal low-cost sport, especially for girls in densely populated areas. It improves cardiovascular health, stamina, and reflexes — all without needing large playgrounds.

With fitness awareness rising post-pandemic, stories like Asmitas are inspiring more young people to take up simple but powerful sports routines.

Sometimes, a homemade rope can build world-class resilience — and Indore seems to know that well.
